Today I’m…

remembering when I was a young child, and listening to the war stories and acts of heroism my uncles shared with me. And I wondered how these young men faced their worst fears head on, and lived to tell me about it.

On Memorial Day, we visit the grave of a family friend who was killed in action during the Viet Nam war. He is buried at a local cemetary where they hold a very nice service for all veterans who have served our country.

Each year, a group of local Pearl Harbor verterans gather at this site to honor their fallen brothers and sisters; and each year this group seems to diminish in size. Today, one of these survivors gave a speech at the Veterans Garden of Honor, and his voice touched a place deep inside my heart when he said, “Let us never forget.”
